Children’s homes

IDEM Living was established to provide warm, caring and safe environments, where young people can live and grow, enabling them to achieve their full potential. This is achieved through careful planning of individually tailored programmes to meet their needs and promote their welfare. All of our Children’s Homes follow IDEM Living’s person centred approach. Our goals are to promote self-esteem through recognition, achievement and praise. IDEM Living believe that the voices of our young people needs to be heard on all matters in connection with their care, education and the running of our homes. We operate an inclusive service, where their wishes and feelings are always considered. We believe we have the right structure that will allow young people to flourish in our care.

We believe that young people in our care have a right to be shown respect and have the same things which we would want for our own children:

  • a good education to equip them for the future
  • a positive sense of self worth and confidence
  • be morally responsible,
  • show the ability to integrate socially within the community
  • be in good physical and mental health
  • have the opportunity to play, learn and have fun,
  • to feel valued and loved,
  • to develop self-discipline, and discover
  • the ability to visualise a new positive personal goal.

Our trained and dedicated staff teams assist all our young people to develop the coping strategies and the skills required to manage difficulties as they arise. This will take place in an environment that offers the correct balance between care, protection and risk. Our staff have all received safeguarding training and are aware of the issues in relation to looking after young people who display challenging behaviour both at home and in the community. Staff are vigilant in relation to the young person’s ongoing safety and protection and are aware of the indicators, signs and symptoms which can be present when abuse is taking place. They are aware of the local Children’s Safeguarding Board procedures for managing suspected safeguarding concerns and are clear about the lines of responsibility and accountability within the homes. The staff teams are diverse and provide influences from many walks of life.

We welcome young people, regardless of which religion they belong to and we believe that diversity is to be respected and celebrated.  We acknowledge the importance of faith to some young people and would respect this and support this is any way we can.
